My world has revolved around sports since I was a little boy. I'd wake up early in the morning during the summers to play with my friends - basketball, football, baseball. I only came home to replenish and finally returned when the street lights came on. My father instilled a deep adoration of sports in me. I have vivid memories of my dad, brother, and I sitting around the TV, cheering on our favorite sports teams. My dad taught me how to love AND play the sports we watched. I grew up in the Southside of Chicago. My family struggled financially, and oftentimes, it felt like all I had was sports. Playing basketball helped me escape from all my worries and troubles. All day in school, I ached to get back on the court, so I could continue honing my skills, hoping to one day play in the NBA. A severe head injury I sustained during a varsity basketball game during my senior year of high school crushed all of my dreams of playing professional basketball, but that did not stop my love of watching and playing the game. As I continued to mature with age, God directed me down the path of business and journalism. I have had the great joy and honor of working and writing for some of the biggest agencies and have covered all professional Chicago sports teams in some capacity. Simultaneously, I have also been able to nurture my passion for coaching and working with youth. I am an encourager and developer by nature; I can spot potential in people and draw out the best in them. I enjoy seeing children fall in love with sports and develop skills they did not know they had. I've been able to do this during my time while working as the Atheltic Director for the Boys & Girls Club, being a Lead Coach for Hot Shots Basketball Camp, serving as the Camp Director for the Chicago Cubs Headfirst Baseball Camp, and most recently working as the Sports Director at a local YMCA. After observing how other organizations run their sports programs, I decided that I wanted to launch my own sports camp. Triple Double Sports Camp will provide the best training and elite development opportunities for youth all over NWI and the Chicagoland area.
